I am using Windows Server 2003, backup exec 10d and a quantum DLT-S4 tape drive. All of a sudden backup exec is not communicating with tape drive. It seems that windows is recognizing drive OK because it shows up in Device Manager under tape drives. I also still see the drive in backup exec DEVICES as online. The scenario is that Symantec® or Backup Exec® might require the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) device driver for the Medium Changer and/or Tape Drive (s) to be uninstalled. Afterwards, install the Symantec® Device Drivers for Windows®. This is to possibly clear or resolve any of the following.
